Lago della Busalletta

W1

The Lago della Busalletta is an artificial lake in the northern Italian Apennines. It lies on the border between the Province of Genoa and of the province of Alessandria and thus in the two regions of Liguria and Piedmont. Nearest communities are Fraconalto, Busalla and Ronco Scrivia.

The dam was built in 1970-1977 and has a capacity of 4.5 million liters of water. It primarily serves the additional drinking water supply in the event of a reduction in runoff of Scrivia or a reduction in the water reserves in the Laghi del Gorzente. The lake is connected via a pipe to the water plant in Mignanego where the water is processed and forwarded. In normal operation, the reservoir supplies the port city of Genoa with 340 liters of drinking water per second and the community Busalla with 30 liters per second.

At the lowest point of the Lago della Busalletta measures 50 meters, with a water surface of about 30 hectares. The lake has mainly trout, chub, pike, carp and tench.
