Lago di Val di Noci

The Lago di Val di Noci ( in German: " Lake of Nusstals " ) is an artificial lake in the Italian region of Liguria. It is located in the Ligurian Apennines, in the province of Genoa on the territory of the municipality of Montoggio.

The lake was created by damming the Rio delle Noci ( in German: " walnut creek " ), which the river forms at Scrivia Montoggio. The dam was built in the twenties, with the aim to secure the water supply of the regional capital is Genoa.

By 1999, the lake was inhabited by carp, but were relocated as part of a Routinentleerung of the reservoir in the Laghi del Gorzente, the Lago della Busalletta and into Lake Brugneto. At the moment of the provincial administration and the operator Azienda Mediterranea delle Acque Efforts are being made to repopulate the lake.
