Lajos Csordás

Lajos Csordás ( born October 26, 1932 in Budafok, † April 5, 1968 in Budapest) was a Hungarian football player. He took the national team of his native country participates in the Football World Cup in 1954 and won two years before the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in 1952.

Career

Club career

Lajos Csordás began his footballing career in 1950 at the club Vasas SC in the Hungarian capital Budapest. There he played, among others, along with other Hungarian football greats of that time like Dezso Bundzsák, Gyula László Lóránt or Sárosi. Overall Csordás remained until 1962 when Vasas. During this time he won three times the Hungarian Football Championship with the club. In 1957 they finished in the table first place with one point ahead of MTK Hungaria, today MTK Budapest FC. The second title win at the national level succeeded in 1960/61, when it was first with four points ahead of Újpesti Dózsa, today Újpest Budapest. In the following season, the last of Csordás at Vasas, the club's title defense with two points reached again before Újpest Doja. During his time with Vasas SC Lajos Csordás could even win the Hungarian Football Cup, in the 1955 season they won the final against Honvéd Budapest. Four times won Csordás with Vasas even the Mitropa Cup. In the years 1956, 1957, 1960 and 1960 Vasas won the Mitropa Cup, which at that time was the most important European club competitions. In Europe Champions Cup in 1957/58 he stood with Vasas Budapest in the semifinals, but where is first lost to the White Ballet of Real Madrid with world stars such as Alfredo Di Stéfano, Raymond Kopa and Francisco Gento with 0:4 at Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, the second leg, however, in front of 100,000 spectators won 2-0 in Népstadion of Budapest against the then arguably the best club team in the world, but to retire.

Overall, Lajos Csordás remained until 1962 when Vasas SC before he joined the small club Csepel SC from the Budapest Csepel district south of the city joined. In the second division, who was staying at Csordás arrival straight to the second division, he did end his active footballers career until 1963. After that, he was a few years distance from the active business of football 1966 coach at his old club Vasas Budapest, the Office stated, however after only a year back down and went to the provincial association Budafoki MTE, which he coached in 1968. In the same year Lajos Csordás died at the age of only 35 years in Budapest.

National

In the Hungarian national football team Lajos Csordás 1952-1959 19 times was used. In these 19 games he scored eight goals. With the national football team of his native country, he participated in the World Cup 1954 in Switzerland. Because of its position in the attack with players like Ferenc Puskás, Zoltán Sándor Kocsis Czibor or numerous world stars stood in front of him, he did not play in the tournament. His team, however, took second place, after being in the final, completely surprisingly lost in Wankdorfstadion in Bern against Germany after Hungary was unbeaten in four years previously. Previously Csordás had with Hungary participated in the Summer Olympics in Helsinki in 1952 and there won the gold medal. On the way to the title it was used in two of the five games of his team, but not quite able to score. The Hungarian team finally won the Olympic football tournament by a final 2-0 in the final at the Olympic Stadium Helsinki against Yugoslavia after goals from Puskas ( 70 minutes ) and Czibor ( 88 minutes ).
