Lake Mackintosh

The Lake Mackintosh is a reservoir in the north-west of the Australian state of Tasmania, about 12 km northeast of Rosebery. He is in the course of the Mackintosh River, whose entire upper and middle reaches it occupies.

During the Mackintosh River forms the northern half of the lake, the southern half is created by the damming up its tributary the Sophia River. The Mackintosh River occurs below the dam on the west side of the lake, north of the small town of Tullah, again, drives the turbines of the power plant at the Mackintosh and flows into Lake Rosebery. On two dams the lake is dammed, the Mackintosh Dam and the Tullabardine Dam. At the lowest point near the main dam, the lake to a depth of about 65 m and has 83 km of shoreline. Three larger and five smaller islands there are in the lake.

In the east borders the reservoir to the Granite Gate Conservation Area. In the southern third of the Murchison Highway accompanied the lake on its western side. There is also the small town of Tullah, which served as a working class neighborhood during construction.
