Lake Mohave

The reservoir Lake Mohave is located in the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada. It is 107 kilometers long and has an area of 113 km ². The Colorado River is dammed here by the Davis Dam. The lake lies at an altitude of 647 meters above sea level near Laughin, Searchlight, Cottonwood Cove and Bullhead City (Arizona ) Bullhead City, about 108 km downstream from Hoover Dam. The lake and the surrounding land forming part of the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

From the Lake Mohave water flows south into Lake Havasu. The Havasu lake is indeed known and frequently visited, but the Lake Mohave is significantly larger.

Description

The lake is used among other things as a tourist attraction. There are two large hotels and resorts on the lake: Cottonwood Cove and Lake Mohave Resort. Both resorts have accommodations, campgrounds, restaurants, shops, and various boat decks. Popular recreational activities on Lake Mohave are swimming, kayaking, fishing, boating and winter skiing. The lake attracts a result of year-round opportunities for leisure activities many visitors, also from other states. Its very clear in the U.S. average water contributes significantly to the number of visitors. The area is also home to thousands of desert plants and animals, as there is seldom reflected in the area.

Around the lake are offered numerous diving courses, for which the lake is particularly suitable. As a special attraction for divers is considered a ship that sank in 1946.

The following fish species are found in Lake Mohave, some of them were but later settled by the people there and are not native:
