Lakewood [ leɪkwʊd ] is an American city in the state of Colorado, in close proximity to the state capital of Denver. It has approximately 143,000 inhabitants, the largest city of Jefferson County and the fifth largest in the state. In addition to the public service and the telephone industry, the medical technology company Gambro Renal Products and the First Bank of Colorado are among the major employers in the city.
