Lamberto Maggiorani
Lamberto Maggiorani ( born August 28, 1909 in Rome, † April 22, 1983 in Rome ) was an Italian actor.
Life
Lamberto Maggiorani came to greater prominence with his portrayal of Antonio Ricci in the movie Bicycle Thieves in 1948. He had before the film, which won awards including Best Foreign Language Film with the Oscar, no previous acting experience. Although Maggiorani starred opposite Jean -Paul Belmondo, Gina Lollobrigida, Terence Hill and Anouk Aimée to 1970 in numerous films, but was unable to repeat their success and therefore worked full time in his learned profession as a craftsman.
