Łańcut ( German Landshut ) is a town in Poland, in the Subcarpathian Voivodship.

History

The city received Magdeburg rights law after the place probably 1349. The first document that reports Łańcut about the place is a bull of Pope Gregory XI. 28 January 1378th in 1502, 1523 and 1626 the city was attacked by the Tatars. 1629 to 1642 the castle was built. 1889 to 1911 it was extensively restored and rebuilt. 1820 a great fire raged and destroyed large parts Łańcuts.

Population Development

1910 about 5,500 people were counted in the city. In 2007 there were 18,105 people in Łańcut.

Museums

The Łańcut Castle (Muzeum - Zamek w Łańcucie ) can be visited. It shows historical living spaces from the 17th century up to the 1920s. Furthermore, the largest collection of historic horse-drawn carriages of Poland can be visited

There is also a distillery museum.

Music

Since 1961, the music festival Łańcut ( Muzyczny Festiwal w Łańcucie ) takes place.

Founded in 1975, Zenon Brzewski ( 1923-1993 ) annually in the Castle of Łańcut event, the International Music Courses ( Międzynarodowe Kursy Muzyczne im. Zenona Brzewskiego w Łańcucie ).

Structures

The main attraction of the town is the castle complex, which includes among other things the museum, a landscape park, the Orangerie and the synagogue from the 18th century include.

Worth seeing are the church, which was built in 1628 and the market with buildings from the 17th century. There are also three old cemeteries, the city cemetery of 1862, the Jewish cemetery from the 17th century and the cemetery of Soviet soldiers from the year 1944.

Traffic

The nearest international airport is Rzeszóz, which lies about 16 kilometers north-west.

Through the city leads the European Route 40, at the same time national road 4 This leads to the east by the Rzeszów about 15 kilometers away. To the west, the road passes through Przeworsk, Jarosław and Radymno. In a north-south direction, the road leads Province 835 ( droga wojewódzka 835). This leads north to about 50 miles through Tarnogród and south to 30 kilometers to Dynów.

The connection to the rail network of the Polskie Koleje Państwowe (PKP ) offers, among other things, a direct connection to Krakow.
