Lanfiera Department

Lanfiéra is both a municipality (French commune Rurale ) and a comprehensive department of the same territory in the West African state of Burkina Faso in the region Boucle du Mouhoun and the province of Sourou. The municipality has 18 839 inhabitants in 12 villages.

Lanfiéra was founded around 1780 by Mahamadou Sanogo. His 1820 born descendant Ahmed Baba Sanogo, known as Karamokoba, was killed in 1896 as resisters of the French.
