Geographical location

The Langfast is located in the southern Harz on the border of the Harz National Park, the Harz nature park between Lonau in the west and in the east Sieber; both of which are districts of Herzberg am Harz. He rises as withdrawing from the field to the south ridge which forms the watershed between the Big Lonau in the West as well as gold sink in the east and Sieber in the southeast. Direct to the southeast of the mountain comes back to parts of the nature reserve Siebertal. The Langfast, whose western continuation of the Shepherds Mountain, passes into the Great Teichtalskopf in the southwest.

Afforestation

The Langfast is forested in the deeper layers of beech and spruce at higher elevations with. In the period 1596-1732 the Langfast in the southern part of oak, beech, hornbeam and aspen ( aspen ) was forested, while in the higher elevations predominantly beech and Sal - pastures, little maples, hornbeam, Aspen poplars and ash trees stood.
