Larabanga

Lara Banga is a village in north-west Ghana and is located approximately 6 km south of the Mole National Park in the West Gonja District of the Northern Region.

It is known to Muslim village with its old mosque. The mosque said to have been built in 1421, this indication is controversial. It contains a very old copy of the Koran. In any case, it is the oldest mosque in Ghana. At least since the 17th century Lara Banga is a settlement center of the Kamara.

The village lies on the dirt road that branches off to the south Tamale from the main road to the west and continues on to Wa.
