Larry Gogan

Larry Gogan ( born May 6, 1938) is an Irish radio and television presenter. From his private life is as good as nothing is known. He began his career after his compulsory education in the 1960s in the Irish state broadcaster RTÉ. At the start of Radio 2 (now 2FM ) in 1979, he was the first person whose first words on the airwaves went and the first song he played was Like Clockwork by Boomtown Rats.

Although already in retirement, he is still working for 2FM. However, his daily broadcast program The Golden Hour was transferred at his own request to a new time slot. Since early 2007, it is only on Saturday and Sunday broadcast.

Major component of its mission is the Just a Minute quiz in which candidates must attempt the phone to answer as many questions within a minute. Since his show a lot of oldies are played, it is a break in style within the music program of 2FM, 40 songs will be played at the top normally. Because of its long activity as a radio presenter he has received a large number of prizes and awards. The strangest is the award at the 5th Shanghai Radio Music Festival in 1988.

Besides his work as a radio presenter, he has also hosted several programs on TV.

RTÉ has named in his honor a studio for him, which he then commented with a laugh. " They normally only do it when you're dead"
