RTÉ 2fm

RTÉ 2fm (also 2FM ) is the second radio program of state Irish broadcaster Radio Telefís Éireann ( RTÉ ). It is on the FM band (almost exclusively ) sent 90-92 MHz. With its mix of music from pop and rock ( music), it is rather aimed at a younger audience.

The station was launched in May 1979 as Radio 2 The first piece of music that was played was " Like Clockwork " by the Boomtown Rats. The first words spoken by Larry Gogan, which still moderated his mission Golden Hour. Mid -80s turned the transmitter to 24 -hour operation and changed his name to 2fm.

Especially famous was the morning talk show The Gerry Ryan Show, which was the most listened radio show in Ireland with over 400,000 daily listeners. Due to the unexpected death of Gerry Ryan, the show was set in the meantime. The last Gerry Ryan Show was broadcast on 4 May 2010 as a special mission to Ryan's death. It was chaired by Gerry's "Outside reporter " Evelyn O'Rourke.

Financially, 2fm on her own. The sender receives no benefits in the form of royalties, as the parent company RTÉ. It is funded primarily through advertising and sponsorship.
