Larry Probst

Lawrence F. " Larry " Probst III (* 1951) is an American manager. As executive chairman, he is currently a transitional executive director of the U.S. computer game publisher Electronic Arts (EA ), for the to 2007, he served as CEO and president in 1991. Furthermore, Probst is Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of the United States and a member of the International Relations Commission of the International Olympic Committee.

Life

Probst is the son of Lawrence F. Probst, Jr. and Ruth Probst (born Gallagher ). He is married to Nancy Probst and has two sons, Scott and Chip.

He completed a degree in Business Administration at the University of Delaware with a Bachelor's degree. Probst worked for Johnson & Johnson and later for Clorox before he was headhunted in 1982 by Activision in the computer game industry. In 1984, he was Vice President for Sales at Electronic Arts. As EA founder Trip Hawkins in 1991 gave the management of the corporation, Probst was named the new CEO and President of the Company and a member of the Board of Directors. Since 1994 he has also been Chairman of the Board. 2007 Probst gave up his position as CEO and President John Riccitiello, who had already been from 1997 to 2004 under Probst Chief Operating Officer and President of EA. However, Probst remained chairman. As Riccitiello resigned 30 March 2013 his posts as president and CEO, Probst took over now as executive chairman once more on a transitional basis, the management of EA.

According to EA's 2005 annual report Probst was at this time the individual with the most equity shares, with a total of 739 761 shares and the preferential right to additional 3.1 million shares, which together yielded a total share of 1.2 percent in the company. Probst is a member of the Board of Directors of two cancer research centers, the V Foundation and ABC2. On October 2, 2008 Probst became the new Chairman of the United States Olympic Committee, the National Olympic Committee of the United States, was appointed as the successor of Peter Ueberroth. On 10 March 2011 he was also appointed the International Olympic Committee in the International Relations Commission.
