Las Tunas Province
Las Tunas is a province in eastern Cuba. Its capital is the city of Las Tunas. Until the administrative reform in 1976, she was part of the much larger province of Oriente.
Geography
The province of Las Tunas has a total area of 6592.66 km ². In the south of the Gulf of Guacanayabo forms a natural border to the west, the province of Camagüey. The Atlantic Ocean joins the north, the provinces of Holguín and Granma in the east and southeast.
Since the province can boast barely forest cover today, Las Tunas was part of a national reforestation program. Thus should be forested back 18.5 % of the total by 2015.
Administrative divisions
The Las Tunas province is divided into eight municipios. With the exception of Majibacoa the administrative centers are located in the same cities.
