László Klinga

László Klinga ( born July 9, 1947 in Mosonszentpeter, Gyor -Moson -Sopron, Hungary ) is a former Hungarian wrestler. He won at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich in free style at featherweight and was a bronze medal in 1973 and 1976 Vice European Champion.

Career

László Klinga began as a teenager in his hometown Mosonszentpeter with the rings. At 18, he went to the Hungarian People's Army and was delegated to the sports club Honved Budapest. Towards the end of his career he moved to Ringer Ferencvarosi Torna Club (FTC ) Budapest. Up from a very few exceptions László Klinga ranking only in free style. He weighed as an adult at a size of 1.65 meters always about 60 kg, and started getting bantamweight (then to 57 kg body weight).

After László Klinga was 1968 first became Hungarian champion bantamweight, he was employed at the European Championships in 1969 in Sofia in free style. With a win and two losses, he came up with the 8th Place. At the European Championships 1970 in Berlin (East ), he was a bit more successful and achieved three wins the 5th Place and in the World Cup this year in Edmonton, he came after two victories and defeats Zbigniew Zedzicki from Poland and Othon Moschidis from Greece to the 6th Place. He was thus arrived at the advanced world class.

At the World Championships in 1971 in Sofia, however, he showed weaknesses. He managed just one win there. After defeats by Horst Mayer from the GDR and Viktor Schatkow from the USSR he was only on the 12th Place.

In 1972 was László Klinga to a very successful year. After he had just missed the European Championships this year in Katowice with the 4th place in the Bantamweight a medal, he scored at the Olympic Games in Munich bantamweight five wins and a draw. Beaten he had to give only the Americans Richard Sanders in Munich. Among the defeated wrestlers from him were, inter alia, Horst Mayer, Ivan Kuleshov from the USSR and Kazim Yildirim from Turkey. With these results, László Klinga finished 3rd and thus won an Olympic bronze medal.

He celebrated another big success at the European Championships in 1973 in Lausanne with the 2nd place. He won there, inter alia, on Petre Ciarnau from Romania and Kirkor Leonov from Bulgaria and had to admit defeat to the Soviet athletes Roin Dobordschenidse. European vice- champion Laszlo Klinga also at the European Championships in 1976 in Leningrad. In Leningrad, he defeated among others Hans -Dieter Brüchert from the GDR. In the decisive battle for the European title he lost to Wladimir Jumin from the USSR

Also notable was still his 5th place at the World Cup in 1974 in Istanbul. There he was defeated after three wins against Hans -Dieter Brüchert and Vladimir Jumin. In his last start at an international Ringer Championship, which took place at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, László Klinga came with a victory over the Cubans Jorge Ramos and defeats his long-time rival Hans -Dieter Brüchert and the Mongols Migdin Hoilogdorj only to 16th.

Then László Klinga ended his wrestler 's career. He completed a sports studies and was in his original club FTC Budapest trainer.
