László Kövér

László Kövér ( born December 29, 1959 in Papa ) is a Hungarian diplomat and politician. He was in 1988 one of the founding members of the national-conservative Fidesz movement. Since 1990 Kövér deputy in the Hungarian Parliament, he has served as its president since August 6, 2010. Following the resignation of President Pál Schmitt on April 2, 2012, he had provisionally taken over the management of his official duties, to János Áder was elected as the new Head of State on May 2, 2012.

Kövér took demonstratively 2012 commemorations of the nationalist poet József Nyírő part, which led to diplomatic upset with Israel.
