László Somfai

László Somfai ( born August 15, 1934 in Jászladány ) is a Hungarian musicologist.

Life

Somfai is a student of Dénes Bartha and Bence Szabolcsi. From 1958 to 1962 he was a member of the Hungarian National Library, from 1972 to 2005, he headed the Bartok archive. He is currently working on a critical edition of the works of the composer. In addition, he taught from 1969 to 2005 at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music.
