Latvian Gambit

The Latvian Gambit is an opening in chess. It is one of the open-ended games and arises from the King Knights Game 1 e2- e4 e7 - e5 2 Sg1 -f3 f7 - f5 after the train. The ECO code is C40.

This opening was analyzed at the beginning of the 20th century by Carl Behting ( 1867-1943 ) from Riga ( Latvia). On the second train of black three sequels, 3 Sf3xe5, 3 Lf1 - c4 and 3 e4xf5 are considered advantageous for White. In practice, this master Gambit therefore hardly occurs.
