Lauren Lane

Lauren Lane ( born February 2, 1961 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma) is an American television and theater actress. She became famous by the role of C. C. Babcock on the television series The Nanny (1993-1999 ).

Life and achievements

Lauren Lane grew up in Texas. She received a bachelor 's degree in theater arts at the University of Texas and a master's degree at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.

After completing her studies Lane began her professional career in various regional theater productions. First experience in front of the camera, she gained with roles in the movies Interface ( 1984) and Positive ID - A woman looks red ( 1986). 1989 and 1991, she had guest roles in the television series Hunter. Then she played a recurring role as Julie Rayburn in the series LA Law. There were other guest roles in the series South Beach (1993) and Burke's Law (1995).

She gained international fame in the role of CC Babcock in the sitcom The Nanny, which she played from 1993 to 1999 in six seasons with 145 episodes. In the series, she was to be seen, among other things on the side of Fran Drescher and Charles Shaughnessy. Legendary especially CC's war of words with the butler Niles were doing (played by Daniel Davis).

Parallel to the sitcom, she played guest roles in other series, including 1999 Partners. After the end of The Nanny 1999 Lane was only rarely seen on camera. She has since worked mainly as a theater actress. Lane is a member of The Actor 's Gang, an experimental theater group, which is headed by Tim Robbins. In 2000, she also designed a handbag collection with Ben Shepard in Los Angeles.

She is currently working as a lecturer at the School of Drama, Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh.

Personal

Lane has a daughter Kate. From the father of her daughter, she is divorced. Due to her pregnancy she was missing in some episodes of The Nanny.
