Laurence Dumont

Laurence Dumont ( born June 2, 1958 in Vincennes ) is a French politician. She was from 1997 to 2002 and since 2007 has been deputy of the National Assembly.

Dumont studied mathematics and education and acquired in both subjects a DEA. She then worked briefly as a mathematics teacher. In 1986, she joined the Socialist Party. In 1988, she appeared as a Senior Adviser to the Minister Théo Brown in politics. In 1990 she was employee of the Socialist group in Parliament. With the entry into the Council of the 15th arrondissement of Paris she obtained in 1995 her first political office. In the same year she ran in Paris unsuccessfully for the Senate and at a election to Parliament, where she was beaten by Édouard Balladur. In the parliamentary elections in 1997 she went to the department of Calvados and was elected to the National Assembly. In 1998 she moved also into the Regional Council of Basse -Normandie region. In the elections of 2002, she was voted as deputies, but was able to return to parliament in the next elections in 2007. In 2012 she was re-elected.
