Laurence J. Peter

Laurence J. Peter ( born September 16, 1919 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, † 12 January 1990 in Palos Verdes, California, United States) was a Canadian- American teachers, education and social counselors, school psychologist, prison instructor and university professor.

He became known in the 1960s by the eponymous Peter Principle.

Biography

Peter was born in Vancouver and worked until 1941 as a teacher. He received in 1963 a Ph.D. from Washington State University.

In 1964, Peter moved to California, where he was director of the Centre for Peace Evelyn Prescriptive Teaching and coordinator of programs for " Emotionally Disturbed Children" of the University of Southern California.

In 1969 he became world famous through the publication of the Peter Principle.
