Lausanne-Flon station

The station Lausanne- Flon is an underground terminus of the Chemin de fer Lausanne- Echallens - Bercher ( LEB) in the center of the Vaud capital, Lausanne, located at the Place de Flon. In addition, he is the starting point of the line m1 Métro Lausanne to Renens and breakpoint of m2, the only subway line in Switzerland.

History

Flon had been already since 1877 starting point of 2006 set for Metro cog railway Lausanne -Ouchy (LO ), which combined with the Flon Railway Station and the Ouchy district on Lake Geneva. Between Flon and Gare CFF LO operation next to the Ouchy - parallel track, a second track, which took place on a shuttle.

In 1991, the former Tramway Sud-Ouest Lausannois was opened after Renens that connects Lausanne with the high school district EPFL and UNIL. The rail line is being used as line m1 Métro Lausanne.

2000, the LEB has been extended from Place Chauderon underground after Flon - this project was already present at the time of the LEB - planning, but contented themselves over a hundred years with a temporary denture.

In 2008, the line of the Métro Lausanne m2 was opened. It is the only underground railway in Switzerland and an extension of the LO Epalinges.
