Lauterach Transmitter

The transmitter Lauterach is a device for the distribution of FM radio programs (until 1 January 1995, a radio program on the medium wave frequency 1026 kHz, before the introduction of DVB- T and TV programs, to 31 December 2010 and DVB - H) of the ORF in Lauterach in Vorarlberg. As a radio mast a 116 meter high guyed steel lattice mast is used, which is insulated from earth and its construction is similar to the two poles of the former channel Aldrans. Maybe he is the oldest radio mast of the ORF. The transmitter Lauterach went into operation in 1933 and was the end of the Second World War, one of the last functioning radio station in the former German Reich. The complex also includes a second smaller towards earth is insulated transmission tower, which apparently served as a reserve antenna. The entire transmitter is now a protected monument.

Although the transmitter Lauterach is no longer used as a medium-wave transmitter today, should one use this system for this frequency range still be possible and was scheduled for temporarily TruckRadio.

On 18 December 1934, the official start-up with a power of 2 kW at the frequency of 1294 kHz, which was assigned to Austria as part of the Lucerne wave plan. They soon formed with the transmitter Aldrans a single frequency at 519 kHz, up to at March 15, 1950 Ground surrounded 629 kHz in the wake of the Copenhagen plan on the wave frequency. A year later, the power can be increased already to 12 kilowatts.
