Lawrence Johnston

Lawrence ( Waterbury ) Johnston ( born October 17, 1871 in Paris, † 27 April 1958 Menton ) was a British soldier and landscaper.

Life

Lawrence Johnston was born into a wealthy American family from Baltimore, USA. He was born in 1871 in Paris, France and studied at Cambridge University in England. As a result, he participated in the British citizenship and entered as a soldier in the British Army.

Work

Johnston designed the famous Hidcote Manor Garden and the Garden Serre de la Madone in Menton.

Since February 28, 1986, the Hidcote Manor Garden in England is run as a Grade I Listed Building. This award is only for structures of extraordinary importance given ( the official description in English reads as follows: Grade I buildings are of exceptional interest, sometimes Considered to be internationally important).
