Quaye Lawrence (2012)

Lawrence Quaye Awuley or Anas Mubarak (Arabic أنس مبارك; born August 22, 1984 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian footballer, but the accrued internationally for Qatar. Quaye received after his naturalization in 2010 the katarischem pass and plays since 2004 when Al- Gharafa Sports Club.

Career

Association

Lawrence Quaye began his career in Ghana with Liberty Professionals. In January 2003 he moved to French club AS Saint- Étienne. On March 8, he gave his league debut against ES Wasquehal and posted on December 6 against FC Gueugnon the 1-0 winning goal and so his only goal. With Saint- Étienne, he managed to win the title in Ligue 2 2003 /04 and the associated rise in the Ligue 1 After the 2003/04 season he returned for half a year to Liberty Professionals back, before the 2004/05 season to Qatar for Al- Gharafa Sports Club moved.

With the Al- Gharafa Sports Club he made winning the title in 2007/ 08 and repeated this in the years 2008/ 09 and 2009/10. 16 May 2009 Al Gharafa won the final of the Emir of Qatar Cup with a 2-1 victory over Al- Rayyan SC. Since 2008, Quaye played 17 games for Al Gharafa in the AFC Champions League, scoring one remained him but so far denied.

National

Quaye played for the Ghana U- 17 national team at the UEFA CAF Meridian Cup 2001 and completed three games against Portugal (1-1), Italy (0-1 ) and Spain ( 0-2).

In 2010, he decided to play for the Qatar national football team and was part of the squad for the Asian Cup 2011 which was held in their own country. For his "second home", he completed some preparation games against Haiti, Egypt, Estonia, against Iran and North Korea. Also in Golf Cup 2010, he came in all three group games used. In addition, he played an unofficial friendly match against Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport.

Others

  • In order to play in the Qatar National Team, Quaye needed a Qatari passport. For this he needed an Arabic name and got his passport on the name Anas Mubarak.
  • He also has an older brother who is also active as a professional football player. Abdullah Quaye ( previously Awuley Quaye Junior) has spent his career in many different countries, such as Spain, Germany, Ghana, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates. Shortly after his transfer to Al- Wahda in 2007, he converted to Islam and changed his name therefore Abdullah. Awuley Quaye senior, the father of two, was once actively active as a football player who played for the Ghanaian team wins, and also participated in the Olympics.
