History

Today's BElohrad arose from the settlement Nová Ves ( Neudorf ), which was first mentioned in 1267. This year it was acquired by Marek Horitz. In 1354 it was owned by the Bořek of Neudorf, although at that time should have already passed the wooden church and a wooden stronghold, which, however, is only for 1457. After frequent changes of ownership, it was in 1543 in possession of the Jindřich Škopek from Bile Otradovice, whose son in January 1556, built a fort, which because of its white masonry as " BElohrad " ( White Castle ) was called. After the Battle of White Mountain in 1626 Albrecht von Wallenstein acquired Neudorf, who in 1628 sold it to Rozina Miřkovský of Stropčice from which it was transferred in 1630 to Henri de Saint Julien and 1642 to General Wilhelm von Lamboy. As a faithful follower of the Emperor he followed strictly recatholicisation so that subsequently many residents went into exile. Lamboys heirs sold Neudorf 1669 Katharina Elisabeth von Waldstein, after whose death it passed to her husband Berthold Wilhelm von Waldstein. Whose legacy January Bertold Schaffgotsch died in 1806, and BElohrad inherited his daughter, who was married to Baron Still Fried.
