Le Lude

Le Lude is the Pays de la Loire, Arrondissement La Flèche, situated on the river Loir, a town with 3999 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the French department of Sarthe.

Le Lude is situated around the castle and the castle park is a peaceful town with a heritage-listed old town center. In the old streets around the main square, the houses are lined up, most of which are already listed in the Napoleonic cadastre. Under the main course is a very old slate mine, whose cavities are filled with water. The access can be considered a large mirror. Sometimes it happens that a cave roof collapses. This happened several years ago in a wine shop on the square in the camp, where the stored wine barrels were too heavy and fell into the depths.

The Castle Le Lude ( 11th century ) is the largest tourist attraction, but there are so many ancient angle, cottage, corners and prospects that are worth a long stroll. On the route of the abandoned railway line a walkway was designed, leading to the gardens, under bridges, almost to the next town and where you can very well go cycling.

The town has a campground, a swimming pool, two sports stadiums, a historic Hospital. Every year the great " de Vide Grenier " instead, a large private flea market.

Twinning

Le Lude is twinned with the Italian community Genazzano in the province of Rome.
