Le Tour-du-Parc

Le Tour-du -Parc ( bret.: Tro Park) is a commune with 1148 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to the community association Communauté de communes de la peninsula de Rhuys.

Geography

Le Tour- du- Parc is located on the south coast of the Rhuys peninsula between the estuaries of the Penerf and Kerboulico. Neighboring municipalities are Damgan the southeast, Surzur in the Northeast, as well as Sarzeau in the West. Major industries are tourism and oyster farming.

Population

The population of the community has grown since 1968 from 503 to 1023 ( of 2007). The proportion of second homes in 2007 was at about 45 %, which is much lower than in neighboring communities as Damgan and Penestin.

Demographically Le Tour-du -Parc is characterized by an increased proportion of ages 64 years and older ( 33 % versus 21 % in the French population), while the share of age group 0-44 years ( 46% is markedly reduced compared with 58 % in the French population).

History

1864 the district of Le Tour-du -Parc Sarzeau was separated and got its own municipality.

Monuments

  • Manoir de Caden: The present building dates from the 15th century, but has been expanded and rebuilt in subsequent periods over again. The chapel also dates from the 15th century.
  • The parish church of Saint -Vincent Ferrier dates from the second half of the 19th century.
  • Furthermore, there is in the community a number of listed buildings from the 17th to 19th centuries.
