Léa Pool

Léa Pool CM ( born September 8, 1950 in Geneva, Switzerland ) is a Swiss- Canadian film director and screenwriter.

Life and achievements

Léa Pool grew up in Lausanne. In 1975 she came to Canada to learn about the film craft. She graduated from the University of Montreal in Quebec ( Université du Québec à Montréal) 1978. In black-and- white short film Strass Café ( 1980), she directed, wrote the screenplay and produced it himself As an actress, she was in Remake (1987 ), Hotel Chronicles (1990) and the documentary The desire in mind - women make movies ( Filmer le désir ) (2001 ) to see. During the 90 years she directed several documentaries and television productions in Québec Director. For La Demoiselle Sauvage, she returned to Switzerland.

After the birth of her daughter Giulia, the film Emporte -moi followed - Take Me (1999) with Karine Vanasse and Pascale Bussières wherein they showed difficulties of growing up. Her first English-language film was the teen drama Lost and Delirious ( 2001). Shooting of the dramatic adventure film The Blue Butterfly with William Hurt took place in Costa Rica. Many films by Léa Pool were successful at international film festivals.

Followed in 2008 in the Canadian city of Beloeil Quebec film shot in Maman est chez le coiffeur. Isabelle Hébert wrote the screenplay. Marianne Fortier played the lead role of a young people. Next worked with the actors Céline Bonnier, Gabriel Arcand and Laurent Lucas.
