Leandro Damiao - full name is Leandro Damiao da Silva dos Santos - ( born July 22, 1989 in Jardim Alegre) is a Brazilian footballer who is currently under contract at FC Santos.

Career

Association

Damiao learned to play football on the streets of the city. His actual career began in the youth of the CA Hermann Aichinger, where he played until 2007. From 2007 he was awarded to Marcílio slides, CA Tubarão and to the SC Internacional, where he was first used in the B team. For the 2010 season Damiao has been committed by the SC International, and was an integral part of the first team and international. With his team he managed in the same year a place in the final of the Copa Libertadores. After he was employed in the first leg 2-1 away win, not of coach Celso Roth, he came in the return game from the 66th minute when the score was 1:1 for Taison used. Shortly thereafter, the attacker scored the 2-1 opener. The match was won 3-2 and Internacional could call Copa Libertadores winners.

In December 2013 Damiao moved to league rivals FC Santos, according to the media reports had a transfer fee of 13 million euros to his old club.

National

His debut for Brazil celebrated Damiao 27 March 2011 in a 2-0 win against Scotland. He played over 78 minutes and was replaced by Jonas. On 19 May 2011 he was appointed national team coach Menezes in the preliminary squad for the Copa America 2011 in Argentina. During the preparation he played his second international match in a 0-0 draw against the Netherlands. In the final 23 -man squad did not make it Damiao however.

In 2012 he took part with the Olympic Team at the Olympic Games in London, in which Brazil wanted to win for the first time the gold medal. In the final, Brazil but was defeated with 1:2 of the Mexican team. He came in all six matches and was used with six goals scorer of the tournament.

Due to injury, had to do without, the Brazilian team won the Damiao to participate in the Confederations Cup 2013. Damiao was injured a few weeks before the tournament, when training with the Selecao and was replaced by Jô.
