Lechlade

The place Lechlade with 2,700 inhabitants east of Cirencester on the edge of the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire is traditionally referred to as the start of the navigable Thames. Boat trips to London and Thames estuary often start at the Ha'penny Bridge in Lechlade; the Thames path leads but here for hikers not only to the mouth but also to source further.
