Lei Clijsters

Leo Albert Jozef " Lei" Clijsters ( born November 9, 1956 in Opitter; † 4 January 2009 Gruitrode ) was a Belgian football player.

Clijsters played as a central defender in the Belgian first division at Thor Waterschei and KV Mechelen. He took with Belgium's national team at the European Football Championship in 1984 in France, the Football World Cup 1986 in Mexico, where he celebrated his biggest success with the fourth place, and the Football World Cup 1990 in Italy part. Overall, he played 40 international matches in which he scored 3 goals.

He was the father of Belgian tennis players Kim Clijsters Elke Clijsters and.

Clijsters died 4 January 2009 from lung cancer.
