Geography

Leißling is located southwest of white rock on the right bank of the Saale.

History

The village was first mentioned in 1232. On 1 September 2010, the site was incorporated into the city of White Rock.

St. Mary's Church in the village is a baroque church pictures. It was consecrated in 1716.

• Memorial stone on Marktweg ( GDR times Otto Müller -Straße) in memory of the communist workers athlete Otto Mueller, who was sentenced to prison and lost his life in the penal battalion 999
• Plaque on the Karl -Marx -Platz 2 at the birthplace of the Communist Youth functionary Fritz Schell Bach, who came in a Nazi prison camp in 1944 lost their lives.

Leißling is known for its mineral springs, from which, by the means German soft drinks GmbH & Co. KG Leißlinger mineral water is obtained. In Leißling is also home to the largest shopping park in the region, the shopping center " Beautiful view ".

In the immediate vicinity of the location area the main road runs 87 of Weissenfels to Naumburg.

Leißling is breakpoint on the Thuringian Railway opened in 1846 from Erfurt to Halle.

The Öblitzschleuse between Schoenburg and Leißling is the top Saale lock.

Sports

The resident football club SG Fortuna Leißling 1930 was first mentioned in the White Felser Tageblatt. The game is played on the sports field Klosterwiese. In Leißling there was in the past even more sports clubs: a cycling, a cone and a gymnastics club, acrobats groups were active in the town.
