Léo Apotheker

Léo Apotheker ( born September 18, 1953 in Aachen ) is a German manager and was from 2010 to 2011 CEO of the American technology company Hewlett -Packard. Previously, he was until February 7, 2010 The Executive Board of SAP AG.

Life

Léo pharmacist parents come from the vicinity of the Ukrainian- Polish border. They survived as Jews of the Holocaust by fleeing to the Russian-Chinese border. After the war, the family moved to Aachen. Pharmacist grew up in Antwerp, then studied from 1972 International Relations and Economics at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

After the first activities in the payment system SWIFT and at the consulting firm McCormack & Dodge, he was first employed in 1988 at SAP. Subsequently, he was the founder - and from 1992 to 1994 COO -, which specializes in software companies venture capital firm ECsoft, and from 1994 to 1995 managing partner of management consulting ABP partner.

In 1995 he returned to SAP. There he built the business in South Western Europe on, ran from 1999 to 2002 sales in Europe and worked from 2002 as a member of the board responsible for global sales and marketing. Following the departure of Shai Agassi in March 2007 Pharmacist was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Co- Chairman, alongside Henning Kagermann, appointed in April 2008. Since the retirement of Henning Kagermann end of May 2009, he was the sole CEO. In February 2010, the Supervisory Board of SAP announced that the contract was not renewed with the previous CEO Léo Apotheker. This was justified later by SAP supervisory board chairman Hasso Plattner with loss of confidence among employees and customers. Pharmacist then came back with immediate effect. As of February 8, 2010 Bill McDermott and Jim Hagemann Snabe took in a double peak, the function of the CEO. On 1 November 2010 Apotheker was CEO of the U.S. technology company Hewlett -Packard; from this position, but he was replaced again on 22 September 2011 and replaced by Meg Whitman. This was due to the failed attempt, the Tablet PC TouchPad to establish with the webOS mobile operating system on the market and an exchange loss of HP's stock by 45%. Pharmacists received over 7 million U.S. dollars in compensation.

In addition, pharmacist serves on the board of the French insurance group AXA. On 1 June 2012, he was appointed to the board of the IT service provider Steria Mummert Consulting.

Pharmacist speaks German, Dutch, French, English and Hebrew fluently. He lives with a primary residence in Paris, is married and has two children.
