Leonard Faulkner

Leonard Anthony Faulkner ( born December 5, 1926 in Booleroo Centre, South Australia, Australia) is an emeritus Archbishop of Adelaide.

Life

The Cardinal Prefect of the Congregation De Propaganda Fide, Cardinal Pietro Fumasoni Biondi, ordained him a priest in 1950, and Faulkner was incardinated into the clergy of the Archdiocese of Adelaide. Pope Paul VI. appointed him on 14 September 1967 Bishop of Townsville.

The Archbishop of Adelaide, Matthew Beovich, donated to him on 28 November of the same year the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Francis Roberts Rush, Bishop of Rockhampton, and Brian Patrick Ashby, Bishop of Christchurch.

On 2 September 1983, he was appointed Koadjutorerzbischof of Adelaide. Following the resignation of James William Gleeson, he followed this on 19 June 1985 at the office after the Archbishop of Adelaide. On 3 December 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation due to age.
