Leonardo Benevolo

Leonardo Benevolo ( born September 25, 1923 in Orta San Giulio ) is an Italian architect and architectural historian.

Benevolo graduated in architecture at the University of Rome, from which he graduated in 1946. Subsequently, he taught history of architecture in Rome and at the Universities of Florence, Venice and Palermo and initially dealt primarily with the differences between the Greek and Roman urban planning of the ancient world. Based on this research, he received the 1956 Chair of Architectural History at the University of Rome. In addition to teaching Benevolo was practically worked as an architect and urban planner. He worked with, among others, to the redesign of the exhibition center of Bologna, designed the new regulation plan of Ascoli Piceno and those of Monza.

Bene Volos journalistic activity is broad international recognition. His city historical works are characterized by broad cultural knowledge and comprehensive, yet easily understood representation.
