Leonid Reiman

Leonid Reiman Dododschonowitsch (Russian Леонид Дододжонович Рейман; born July 12, 1957 in Leningrad ) is a Russian businessman and politician. He was Prime Minister from 1999 to 2008 and from 2008 to 2010 official advisor to the President of the Government of the Russian Federation.

Reiman graduated in the 1970s to study engineering at the University of Telecommunications in Leningrad and was chief engineer at the Leningrad telephone company.

From 1992 he was vice - chief of the St. Petersburg State Telephone Company. In 1994, Reiman co-founder of the telecommunications company Telecom Invest and in the following years in the rapidly developing Russian telecommunications sector freelance.

In June 1999 he was appointed first as Secretary of State and Chairman of the former State Committee for Telecommunications ( Gostelekom ) in the Russian government. In November 1999 Gostelekom was transformed into the Ministry of Communications and Information and Reiman became minister.

As part of a reorganization of the Russian government Reiman From March until May 2004 First First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Igor Levitin, before he was appointed by then-President Vladimir Putin to the department head of the newly formed Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications on May 20, 2004. Reiman is considered confidant of Putin with whom he worked already in the 1990s in Saint Petersburg. In the course of Regierumsumbildung after the election of Dmitry Medvedev as president in May 2008, he lost his ministerial office, and became an official adviser to Medvedev. In September 2010, he resigned from this government office.

During and after his tenure Reiman was repeatedly accused and private interests in the booming Russian telecommunications sector to pursue. He is said to have enriched themselves in the privatization of state enterprises and have operated money laundering. He is said to have acquired shares in the mobile phone company MegaFon a straw man. Reiman has always denied these allegations.

Reiman was awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 4th and 3rd stage, he is married and has a son and a daughter.
