Leopold Hager

Leopold Hager ( born October 6, 1935 in Salzburg, Austria ) is an Austrian musician and conductor.

Life

Hager studied 1949-1957 at the Salzburg Mozarteum piano, organ, harp, orchestral conducting and composition with Bernhard Paumgartner, Gerhard Wimberger, Cesar Bresgen, Johann Nepomuk David and Egon Kornauth.

Through his interpretations of works of Viennese Classicism (Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert) he gained high recognition worldwide. He also served as conductor of the Luxembourg Radio Orchestra, succeeding Louis de Froment.
