Leopold von Sonnleithner

Andreas Leopold Ignaz Sonnleithner, 1828 Leopold Edler von Sonnleithner (* November 15, 1797 in Vienna, † March 3, 1873 ) was an Austrian jurist and a well-known figure of the Viennese music scene.

Family

Leopold von Sonnleithner was a grandson of the composer Christoph Sonnleithner and son of Ignaz von Sonnleithner. His father was raised on 20 April 1828 in Vienna with diploma on 14 June 1828 in the Austrian nobility; with him and his son Leopold.

On May 6, 1828, he married the native of Hamburg wholesalers daughter Louise Augusta Gosmar (August 11, 1803 - June 7, 1850 ).

Life

Sonnleithner who received his doctorate in Vienna on May 4, 1819 Doctor of Laws, was court lawyer, Hofrichter the Schottenstift, director and attorney of the "Austrian savings bank ".

As a private man, he was like his father, an active member of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna and dedicated music collectors. He was a personal friend and patron of the Viennese composer Ludwig van Beethoven and Franz Schubert as well as his cousin, the playwright Franz Grillparzer ( 1791-1872 ). Schubert ( D921 ) and Grillparzer ( text ) dedicated their serenade " Softly, hesitantly ," his wife Louise.

Sonnleithner in 1873 on the Matzleinsdorf cemetery in Vienna's 5th district Margaret buried (now the cemetery is located in the 10th district of favorites).

His legacy as a music collector is now in the archives of the Society of Friends of Music in Vienna.
