Christoph Sonnleithner

Christoph Sonnleithner ( born May 28, 1734 Szeged, Hungary, † December 25, 1786 in Vienna ) was an Austrian jurist and composer.

Family

He was the father of Ignaz von Sonnleithner and Joseph Sonnleithner. His daughter Anna was the mother of Franz Grillparzer.

Life

Sonnleithner studied at the Vienna University of Law and graduated with a PhD from. Later he got a job as a court lawyer in the service of the Prince esterházy between domain management; his employer was Prince Paul II Anton Esterházy de Galantha.

Sonnleithner was appointed as Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Vienna and had thus the office of Hofrichter the Schottenstift held.

As a composer Sonnleithner was in contact with Joseph Haydn. He composed 36 string quartets ( dedicated to Joseph II ), several symphonies and various church music.
