Leroy Gómez

Leroy Gomez ( * in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, United States ) is a pop singer and saxophonist who became internationally known in the late 1970s through the sung by him Santa Esmeralda title Do not Let Me Be Misunderstood.

Biography

At age fourteen Leroy Gomez founded his own band. He also worked as a singer and saxophonist for many local groups and so came to Tavares, with whom he toured the U.S., Canada and Europe. Paris liked it so much that he settled there. In France, Gomez worked as a session singer and saxophonist and has worked Juvet Patrick, Gilbert Becaud, Claude Francois and Laurent Voulzy. In addition, he played the saxophone on Elton John's album Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

The first solo single Here We Go Around 1975 a hit in France. Random Gomez learned the producer Nicolas Skorsky, with whom he wanted to gain a foothold in the disco scene. Skorsky acquainted him with the musicians of Santa Esmeralda and hired him as their singer, until he was replaced in 1978 by Jimmy Goings. After that Gomez focused back on his job as a saxophonist. He played for Jose Manuel, Jose Feliciano and others, but was also the first foreigner at the " Gondola d' Oro " at the Venice Music Festival.

Today Leroy Gomez is active as a solo artist, but also a member of the newly formed Santa Esmeralda. 2010 appeared his single Bang Bang Baby.
