Les Maîtres de l'Affiche

Les Maîtres de l'Affiche ( Masters of the Poster) is a collection of posters, which was published in Paris for subscribers from December 1895 to November 1900. It was compiled by the poster artist Jules Chéret in cooperation with the printer Chaix (pronounced Schex ) and collected each best advertising posters of the time. The French poster artist are above average represented, but care was taken to internationality. Monthly a new shipment of four leaves (lithographs ) appeared in the format of 40 × 29 cm. Overall, the collection included 256 lithographs, including 16 bonus sheets, ie the subscribers offered original posters. All posters were numbered and carry the blind stamp of the printing Chaix.

Among the total of 79 presented artists are Pierre Bonnard, Jules Chéret, Eugène Grasset, Alphonse Mucha, Henri de Toulouse- Lautrec, Théophile -Alexandre Steinlen, Will Bradley, Edward Penfield and many more.
