Les Rallizes Dénudés

Les Rallizes denudes (Japanese裸 の ラリーズ, Hadaka no Rallizes for Rarīzu ) was an influential, albeit a very reclusive Japanese avant-garde rock band. Originally they started in 1962 as a musical theater troupe before they came together in 1967 as a band.

They were known for their relationships with avant-garde theater groups (as typified by Shuji was eg Terayamas force ) and for their extreme live shows. Among her strongest musical influences include the band Velvet Underground. The band's style was characterized by simple, repetitive bass lines, screaming guitar feedback and folk arrangements. The band has also identified with left-wing political goals and was involved in demonstrations against the Vietnam War and the occupation of the University of Kyoto in 1969 in these contexts. In 1970, the original bass player of the band, Moriaki Wakabayashi, involved in the kidnapping of a Japanese aircraft by the Japanese Red Army. The Singer Takashi Mizutani was also offered to participate but it refused.

The band made its last appearance in October 1996.

Reception

If the band perceived as one of the most influential Japanese psychedelic bands in many, Piero Scaruffi describes her music as " superfluous " and " incompetent imitation of the Velvet Underground ".
