Lesica, Lower Silesian Voivodeship

Lesica ( German Freiwalde ) is a village in the south of the powiat Kłodzki in the Province of Lower Silesia in Poland. It belongs to the municipality Międzylesie ( Mittelwalde ), of which it is located five kilometers to the west.

Geography

Lesica lies between the Habelschwerdter Mountains and the Eagle Mountains in the lower valley of the Erlitz, which forms the border with the Czech Republic so far. Neighboring towns are Różanka in the northeast, Międzylesie in the east, and Kamieńczyk Czerwony Strumień to the southeast, the Czech Bartosovice Orlické Mountains in the west and Niemojów in the northwest. Southeast of the 713 m high rises Bochniak (salt dome ).

History

Freiwalde was from 1578 together with the adjacent towns Marienthal and chair Seiffen on royal base by Leonhard Veldhammer, the upper Woodruff County Glatz, built and measured as Kammersdorf. It was initially referred to as " neuroses valley " and belonged to the parish church of Peter the Bohemian village. In 1600 a church was built of wood by the then Lutheran inhabitants of the village, which was supervised by the Lutheran pastor from 1613 to 1624 from the Bohemian Batzdorf ( Bartosovice ). She then served as the Catholic church and was dedicated as a branch church after Ebersdorf. After the establishment of the parish Rosenthal 1665, she was there struck.

Together with other chamber villages in the district Habelschwerdt acquired Freiwalde 1684 the Glatzer Governor Michael Wenzel von Althann of the rule buckles stone formed from the village communities newly acquired whose capital Rosenthal was, so she was referred to as " rule Rosenthal ". The Freienwalder Freirichtergut remained independent, but fell under the jurisdiction of the upper dominion. With the approval of the Prague consistory a new church was built of stone in the place of the wooden church in 1704, which was inaugurated on 24 October 1706 and continued to Branch Church of Rosenthal.

After the Silesian Wars Freiwalde came together with the county of Glatz in 1763 with the Peace of Hubertusburg to Prussia. 1787-1797 put Baron Michael von Stillfriedplatz, the then owner of the domain buckles Stone / Rosenthal, on ausgerodetem sovereign Forstgrund northwest of Freiwalde the " colony Neuwalde " to. It consisted of 16 houses and belonged to the municipality Freiwalde.

After the reorganization of Prussia Freiwalde belonged since 1815 to the province of Silesia and was first incorporated into the county of Glatz. 1818 was reclassified in the county Habelschwerdt to which it belonged until 1945. After a murrain a Leonhardi pilgrimage was introduced in 1841. 1939 counted 398 inhabitants.

As a result of World War II Freiwalde 1945 as almost all of Silesia was lost to Poland and was renamed Lesica. The German population was expelled. The new inhabitants were partly displaced persons from eastern Poland. Due to the remote border location but left in the next decades many residents Lesica, so that the population has declined significantly. 1975-1998 belonged to Lesica Voivodeship Wałbrzych.

Attractions

  • The Branch Church of St. Martin ( kościół Św. Marcina ) was built by master mason C. Kristen along with the Freienwalder stonemason's workshop. The ceiling painting is of 1789. The side altar painting of St.. Leonhard created Hieronymus Richter. At the cemetery in 1706 are sculptures of Saint Barbara and Mary.
