Leslie Brooks
Leslie Brooks ( born July 13, 1922 in Lincoln, Nebraska; † July 1, 2011 in Sherman Oaks, California, Virginia Leslie Gettman actually ) was an American film actress.
Life
Leslie Brooks was as Virginia Leslie Gettman was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, 1922. However, they grew up in Los Angeles, where she attended Hollywood High School. First working as a model, she was awarded in 1941 a contract with Warner Brothers. There they played under the name Lorraine Gettman small supporting roles, for which it is often not mentioned in the credits. As Columbia Pictures bought out their contract, their roles have been greater. Then they played mostly the calculated rival of the protagonist, such as by Rita Hayworth in the film musical Cover Girl ( Cover Girl, 1944), where she appeared as an ambitious showgirl. Already in 1942 she was seen in a Hayworth musical. In You Were Never Lovelier ( You Were Never Lovelier ) she played Hayworth marry her sister. In 1945, Brooks in Tonight and Every Night one more time next Hayworth used. While Brooks was allowed to play lead roles, as in The Man Who Dared (1946 ) opposite George Macready, yet they never made the big breakthrough. In 1948 she retired from the film business.
From 1945 to 1948 she was married to actor Donald Anthony Shay. The marriage produced a daughter, Leslie Victoria went ( born November 8, 1945), out. With her second husband Russ Vincent, whom she married in 1950, they had three more daughters ( born 30 April 1960) Dorena Marla ( born August 18, 1954), Gina ( born April 6, 1956) and Darla. After her youngest daughter had been born, Brooks and her family moved from Los Angeles to Hawaii.
Leslie Brooks died in 2011 at the age of 88 years in Sherman Oaks, California. Her grave is at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles.
