Lethargy (band)

Lethargy was a mathcore band from Rochester, New York, which was founded in 1992 and broke up again in December 1999. Her last performance took place on Christmas Eve 1999.

History

The band was formed in 1992 by singer and guitarist Erik Burke, bassist Adam Routier, drummer Brann Dailor and guitarist Steve Nedwetsky. In 1993, they took with Lost in This Existence their first demo. In the same year also guitarist Nedwetsky was replaced by Brian Steltz. Another demo with the name Tainted followed in 1994. A year later, guitarist Steltz was replaced by Bill Kelliher.

My first and only studio album the band released in 1996 with the name of It's Hard to Write with a Little Hand. As guitarist Kelliher and drummer Dailor before had to play with the band Today Is the Day, the band released their last concert held on Christmas Eve of 1999. Kelliher and Dailor were working on another album for Today Is the Day before along with guitarist Brent Hinds and bassist Troy Sanders and singer the band Mastodon founded. Erik Burke founded a project called Sulaco and recorded an EP for Relapse Records. He also appeared briefly in the band Nuclear Assault. He is currently member of the band Brutal Truth.

Style

The band plays extremely demanding, precise and fast music. The guttural vocals singing here has a very aggressive tone. Influences from jazz can be heard, the tape is compared with other bands such as Atheist. The songs do not contain clearly identifiable structures and are interspersed with rocky passages and interview passages from movies.
