Brent Hinds

William Brent Hinds ( born January 14, 1974 in Pelham, Alabama) is an American guitarist and singer. He is a founding member of the band Mastodon and acts in several other projects.

Career

Hinds worked as a carpenter before he moved to Atlanta to become a musician. There he met today Mastodon bassist Troy Sanders and Sanders joined former band Four Hour Fogger on. After the band broke up, Hinds and Sanders met at a concert of the band High on Fire, the musicians Bill Kelliher and Brann Dailor. Together with singer Eric Saner founded one the band Mastodon. After Saner left the band, Hinds took over along with Troy Sanders singing.

In 2007, Hinds won with Bill Kelliher the Golden God Award from the British magazine Metal Hammer in the Best Shredder category. On September 9, 2007, it came as part of the MTV Video Music Awards to a dispute between the drunken Hinds and the system -of -a- Down Shavo Odadjian bassist. There was a brawl at the Hinds serious head injuries, a broken nose, two black eyes and cerebral hemorrhage suffered. He then had to be treated for a long time in the hospital.

Besides Mastodon Brent Hinds is involved in various projects. His projects Fiend Without a Face and West End Motel released a split double album in May 2011. He appeared as a guest musician on albums by bands like The Dillinger Escape Plan and Mouth of the Architect. In addition, he appeared in the movie Jonah Hex in a small role as an actor.
