Letronne (crater)

Letronne is an impact crater on the lunar front side, on the western edge of Oceanus Procellarum, east of the crater Hansteen and Billy and north of Gassendi.

The crater is largely flooded by lavas of Oceanus Procellarum, the northern part of the wall has disappeared completely and part of the western walls of the crater is superimposed Winthrop. Approximately in the middle of the crater ends of the north-south direction extending ridges of Dorsa Rubey.

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 by the French scientist Jean Antoine Letronne antiquity.
