Leuben-Schleinitz

Leuben - Schleinitz was a municipality in the center of Saxony, in the district of Meißen. She was part of the defunct administrative community Ketzerbachtal.

Geography

The community Leuben - Schleinitz was about 13 kilometers west of Meissen and about 5 km south of Lommatzsch. The town lies on the south Ketzerbach Lommatzscher care. Adjacent communities were the city Lommatzsch, Käbschütztal and Ketzerbachtal in the district of Meißen and Mochau in the district of Central Saxony.

History

The place names of the formerly belonging to the municipality Leuben - Schleinitz villages have mostly altsorbische origins. The first mention of Leuben dated to the year 1069th The place Schleinitz originated in the 13th century by the then existing water castle and was therefore manor. Today's church was established on 1 January 1993 by the merger of the two places.

On November 6, 2013, the council decided to lift the administrative community with the community Ketzerbachtal and the incorporation into the city Nossen January 1, 2014.

Gerhard Doleschal of the FDP won the mayoral election in 1994 ( 53.4 % ), 2001 ( 92.4 % ) and 2008 ( 96.9 %) and was the first and only mayor of Leuben - Schleinitz.

Incorporations

On November 1, 1935 Eulitz were (1925: 261 inhabitants), Graupzig (1925: 321 inhabitants) and Raßlitz (1925: 60 inhabitants) incorporated to Leuben. Culture and sights

The Schleinitz Castle is a late Gothic former moated castle in Renaissance style, which is now used for events. In the district Graupzig is the low mill, a still functioning water mill.

Perched on a rocky hill surrounded by the district Leuben is the relatively large Marienkirche. Anno 1069 is mentioned a Castle Ward in Leuben. In its place now stands, visible from afar, the gothic St Mary's Church, which was built at the beginning of the 16th century as a church patronage of the Lords of Schleinitz. The 1890 built by master organ builder Franz Emil Keller organ was overhauled in 1999. In the tower there is a small exhibition about the secret dwellers of the Church: bats, barn owls and kestrels.

Economy and infrastructure

The Federal Highway 14 runs south of the former township and is about connecting Nossen -Nord ( about 10 km).
